ABOUT

My mission

I specialize in creating and restoring wooden heraldry, from coats of arms and family crests to other detailed woodcarvings. Each piece is made with the highest quality wood and crafted to last for generations.

About me

Hello, my name is Olaf, I’m 25 years old and I’m from the Netherlands. I work as a woodworker and discovered my passion when I was 19 and living with other students. During Covid we had to stay at home, so I started repairing the old wooden furniture in our house. What started as a small project turned into a hobby that got out of hand and later even became my job.

I did finish my studies and graduated with a master’s degree in Materials Science at the Technical University in Delft. Still, working with wood has always been my real passion.

For me it’s about keeping woodcrafting alive while giving them a modern touch. Each commission I take on is unique and made together with the client so that every detail has meaning. Whether it’s restoring a historic family coat of arms or creating a new design, I make sure it becomes more than just decoration.

I’m based in Rotterdam (The Netherlands), where I rent a workshop. If you’re interested, feel free to send me a message. I’ll gladly invite you over and show you around my workspace.

My core values

I craft each piece with the intention that it will form part of a family, company, personal, or organisational heritage, preserving stories, values and memories for future generations.

My way of working

In order to create my pieces I combine old and newer techniques. I use a router to take away the big volume of the wood. Then by hand I finish the piece with chisels, a small rotary tool and sandpaper. After this I finish it with organic oils and waxes, so the piece is well treated to be used for generations.

I work on an artist base. People send me a commission and I make it an artwork through my perception.
